Wilson: A Progressive President Faces the Great War

Woodrow Wilson was one of America's greatest visonaries.  As president, he faced the greatest calamity the globe had ever seen: The Great War.  Wilson vigorously pursued a progressive legislative agenda during his first term, but pressures abroad forced him to turn his focus to foreign policy.  Students will create a game that allows a player toguide Wilson through the pitfalls of war while still trying to maintain Wilson's legendary idealism.  Here is a link to the document:

Psychology: Does body chemistry govern eating behavior?

Implement this lesson near the end of the unit on physiology. The central question, does body chemistry govern eating behavior, is a sub-component of the nature versus nurture debate. I recommend that a teacher using this lesson should address the role of neurotransmitters, as one of the readings discusses galanin and neuropeptide-y which arguably control individual’s desires for fat and carbohydrates respectfully.

Perspectives on Slavery

Author: Fenekes

Course: US History I

Summary:

This is a description of this particular lesson that deals with slavery. The summary should include an overview of the lesson, the outcomes, the procedures, etc. and should include a link to the lesson plan in document form. When another person uses this particular lesson, he/she would be expected to add a comment to this post as to his/her own experiences and create and upload if relevant a revised lesson plan for future use.

It's imperative that the teacher creating this learning object use the specific keywords listed in the right hand column AS WELL as other keywords that might be relevant in a search. For instance, in this example, the keywords HCRHS, US History, Slavery, Civil War, Lincoln and Reconstruction have been used. When a person searches for any of those terms, this plan comes up.

Searches can be done with more than one keyword. For instance, entering HCRHS and Civil War will also return this lesson.
