Welcome to our Collaboration Page!

Our friends from Georgia! This is the official starting place for our NJ-GA Journalism Connection. We up here in New Jersey are really looking forward to working with you over the next few weeks and we're hoping that we all learn a little more about journalism and Web logs. We hope you're excited as well.

We've been reading your work, and all of us are extremely impressed with what you have been doing. (In fact, some of us would like some tips on adding pictures and stuff like that.) Hopefully, we can help you with your research and your writing as you do some real journalism.

Just as an overview, here's what our schedule looks like. This week, we're going to introduce ourselves and share a few of our Web logs with you. We'll let you know the kind of work that we are doing in our Web logs (like story ideas and beats) so that you'll understand what you're looking at.

After that, we hope to give you some help with your stories. Please feel free to ask us any questions or to bounce ideas off of us. We're here to help!

Here's our class! Finally, we've written some mini-lessons about journalism that we'd like to share with you. Hopefully, they will help make you better reporters and teach you something about journalism as well.

First, check out all of our Web logs linked in the right-hand column. There you'll see some of our interactions.

Mini-lessons:

  • Reporting Process
  • Elements of News
  • News vs. Features
  • Feature Leads
  • Asking Questions and Taking Notes
  • Writing News Leads
  • Quotes
  • Writing Other Leads
  • Using Good Sources

Please let us know what we can do to help you understand journalism better!
